Seminary for Society is a resource in public and cultural theology aimed to educate and equip the saints of Jesus Christ to follow Him in an apostate-but-graced world, hostile-but-restrained society, and fractured-but-rooted culture.
It is curated by me, Kyle David Bennett, Ph.D., Founder of Seminary for Society, Director of Education at Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church, Scholar-in-Residence in Neo-Calvinism at Fuller Seminary, co-host of the Two Pour Spirits podcast, guest on the Parrhesian and We Make Christians podcasts, and author of Practices of Love. I tweet here, and my C.V. can be found here.
Like a seminary education, this newsletter is meant to equip you for the ministry. But the field of ministry is the public square, which is no longer fond of Christian beliefs, values, and practices.
How do you stay Christian in Babylon? How do you share space with the Canaanites? How do you seek the welfare of the city while in captivity? How do you have fellowship with the Greeks and talk to the Romans? What are you supposed to do when the crusades start? Can a Christian have hope in the apocalypse?
I am firmly Protestant, historically and confessionally Reformed, but ecumenically and evangelically engaged. My interests and approach are threefold:
- Phenomenological reflections on our modern age
- The relevance of asceticism, mysticism, and monasticism for contemporary culture
- Applying Reformed theology and ethics to various spheres of society
I invite you to subscribe to my newsletter where I work out these interests and approaches. For those who would like more content, consider becoming a paid subscriber by pledging your support.
